TO: All paper presenters (both panels and
posters), ISA convention, Montreal
FROM: Tom Volgy, Executive Director, ISA
RE: Your papers
Dear Colleague,
Once more, congratulations for your participation at our
annual convention in Montreal. This conference constitutes
the largest number of requests in ISA's history for
participation on the program, and we had to turn away
hundreds of applicants this year.
I need, however, to bring your attention to two important
matters, one of which is a change in our procedures.
First, it is a requirement of the association that all
paper givers actual write a paper, and make that paper
available to the membership. Failure to submit an actual
paper violates our rules, and those in violation will not
likely be invited back to future conferences.
Second, ISA's Governing Council decided last year that,
starting with the Montreal conference, we will no longer
have a paper room. Instead, we are requiring all paper
givers to submit their papers electronically. These papers
will then be posted for us by a third party, and made
available for free to ISA's membership on its own web
page.
Therefore, we need you to submit your paper
electronically, and as soon as it is available. In order
to submit it online, you will need to go through the
following, simple steps:
1) go to http://archive.allacademic.com/publication/isa_index.php
2) Click on Log In in the upper left menu.
3) Enter user name and password.
a) your username:
this is the complete e-mail address you submitted
to
the program organizers when you applied to get on the
Montreal program;
b) your password:
your password is isa2004.
4) Click Administer Publications from the upper
left menu if your abstract has not been posted already (if
your abstract is in the archive, you may skip this step).
5) Click on Paper or Poster Title (this appears
near the bottom left of the screen).
6) Fill in the fields (authors, title, keywords and abstract), browse
your HD for your paper, and
upload the paper.
7) Click Edit/Save Publication
8) Log Out from upper left menu.
If for any reason you absolutely will not submit your
entire paper electronically to us, you may submit instead
an abstract of your paper, including an e-mail address
where people can contact you for the entire manuscript.
However, and either way, it is a requirement of the
association that a written paper be available to the
participants.
You do not need to Log-In to browse or search the archive, you may use the search menu in the upper left corner of
the All Academic web page to search by topic or author.
Accepted Formats: Papers
will be accepted for archival in 9 formats: any version of
MS Word, any version of WordPerfect, RTF, LaTex, Postscript,
PDF, ASCII text, Powerpoint, and Excel. Up to three
supporting files will also be accepted for each conference
proceeding. Word and WordPerfect users: internal macros
will not be run during the conversion process in order to
stop macro viruses. PDF files should have all fonts
embedded in the PDF file. All
uploaded files should not be password protected. Password
protected files will not be able to be fully text indexed
or converted to PDF.
If you have trouble accessing the Archive or
completing the web-based submission process, please
contact technical support at isa@allacademic.com.
For non-technical questions, contact ISA at isa@u.arizona.edu.
Of course, it is still your obligation to provide copies
of your paper, electronically or in hard-copy form to the
other participants on your panel, including the
discussant(s) and the chair. If you wish to bring hard
copies to the conference in addition to the electronic
process, you may wish to do so, but you are under no
obligation to do so.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I look forward to seeing you in Montreal.
With best regards,
Tom Volgy
