3 Assistant Professors

The Department of Political Sciences is looking to appoint three new Assistant Professors. Potential candidates must hold a PhD degree in Political Science, and excel in both research and education. 

For the first position, the Department is looking for an academic who specialises in issues in international political economy. The ideal candidate has knowledge of the relationships between economically developed countries and developing countries, especially those in Africa and Asia. For the second position, the Department is looking for an academic specialised in international security and conflict management. The ideal candidate for the third position is an expert in the foreign affairs of the Netherlands and the European Union, especially in the fields of development cooperation, trade policies, human rights and the environment. 

Tasks

• Education in the field of international relations, both in the Bachelor's phase and the Master's phase 

• Research in the context of the Rethinking Politics programme (see the ASSR website) 

• Acquisition of external funding for research projects 

• Contributions to the management of the Department and study programme 

Requirements

• Completed doctoral thesis in the field of political science

• Publications in international peer-reviewed periodicals and/or in books published by internationally recognized presses 

• Broad knowledge in the field of general political science

• Ability to teach and motivate students at both basic and advanced levels 

• Perfect passive and adequate active knowledge of Dutch, or the ability and willingness to acquire such within a relatively short period

• The Dutch basic qualification in education (Basiskwalificatie Onderwijs; BKO) certificate, or the willingness to acquire such

Appointment
The gross monthly salary will be between €3195 and €4970, based on a full-time appointment and depending on the appointee's qualifications and experience. The appointment will be temporary, with the prospect of a permanent appointment.
