Position: Grant Program Officer

We seek a person to serve as a Program Officer in the Institute’s Grant Program. Duties include: 1) Participating in program planning for the effective expenditure of grant funds; 2) implementing program policies and plans; 3) managing a portfolio of existing grants to civil society organizations and assisting new applicants with the preparation of grant applications; 4) reviewing and evaluating proposals; 5) managing an internal staff and external peer review process of proposal evaluation; and 6) monitoring the implementation and evaluation of grant projects and contracts. The successful candidate will also conceptualize and organize conferences, seminars and workshops related to the person’s area of expertise; write concept papers for internal discussion and external distribution; serve as a convener, speaker, panelist, resource person and rapporteur; and carry out related conference duties. As an ancillary duty, the Grant Program Officer will also serve as an Institute re
 source person and analyst in his/her area(s) or expertise.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The successful candidate will have: (1) an M.A. (Ph.D. preferred) or equivalent experience in the social sciences or international relations/conflict management; (2) thorough knowledge of community building processes and civil society development; and (3) skill in grant development, evaluation and administration.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
