Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
Department of Political Science

Applications are invited from graduates who recently obtained a Ph.D (preferably but not necessarily within the last 5 years) to pursue a post-doctoral fellowship within the Department of Political Science in various broad fields (including South African/Southern African or African political economy; Conflict Studies; South African/African Politics; Gender Studies; the diplomacy and political economy of emerging powers (esp. Brazil, Malaysia, India?), public policy processes in developing countries, and IR theory and the developing world). 

Stellenbosch is amongst the 5 leading South African research universities and with the second most rated social scientists in the country, offers excellent research infrastructure. The Department of Political Science runs a very successful graduate programme in International Relations and Political Management with extensive international networks (see www.sun.ac.za/polwet). The Fellowship is tenable for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of three years. Depending on 2009 budgetary approval, the stipend will amount to between R120 000 and R140 000 per annum and includes an office and computer facilities. .
