Chair in International Trade and related fields

IMT (Institutions Markets Technologies), Institute for Advanced Studies, Lucca (www.imtlucca.it) is an open, competitive Graduate School, located in Lucca (Tuscany, Italy), designed to best integrate research, education and innovation. Ph.D. Programs and Research Activity focus on processes of institutional and technological change, with particular reference to Economics, Political and Social Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering.

The Visiting Professor will carry out his/her activity within the Research Area of Economics and Institutional Change. A specific research group will be created to work on topics related to international economy, analysis of international trade patterns and related legal and institutional structures, business models and service sectors with high surplus value that support the internationalization of domestic firms, regulatory structures and industrial structures of international markets, including regulatory and administrative barriers and foreign direct investment.

The successful candidate should have:
• An outstanding research record at an international level in one or more of the following fields:
- International Economics
- International Trade
- Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
- Multi National Enterprises (MNEs)
- Intellectual Property Rights
- Competition and Development
- Growth
- Development and International Trade;

• Readiness to contribute to, and provide leadership in the development of the relevant research area; 
• A record of collaborative research programs and the acquisition of external research funds;
• Experience in post-graduate teaching and Ph.D. supervision.

Candidates will be peer-evaluated by the Selection Committee which is composed of:
- Prof. Fabio Pammolli, IMT Director (Chair);
- Prof. Gérard Roland, Department of Economics, University of California, Berkeley (member);
- Prof. John Sutton, London School of Economics, London, UK (member).

The appointment will last 12 months and must be finished by September 2010.
