Professor of the Practice of International Affairs, Specialization in U.S. Foreign Policy
The Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University invites applications for a full-time (12-month), non-tenure-accruing, contract faculty position in U.S. foreign policy. The appointment will be as Professor of the Practice of International Affairs (or Associate Professor of Practice, if appropriate) for a three-year renewable term starting in January or June 2010. Salary is commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for six courses: two in the fall semester, two in the spring semester, and two as Director of the Elliott School’s U.S. Foreign Policy Summer Program.
Basic qualifications: An advanced degree in a relevant social science discipline or interdisciplinary field; significant professional experience and broad expertise in U.S. foreign policy including the policymaking process and current policy challenges as evidenced by substantial and lengthy professional employment in the U.S. foreign policy arena (governmental, nongovernmental, international, or private sectors). Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in a relevant social science discipline or interdisciplinary field; teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
