Overview:
Griffith University is looking to appoint two post-doctoral/research fellows in a project jointly run by the ARC Centre for Excellence in Policing and Security (CEPS) and the Centre for Governance and Public Policy (CGPP). The project is focused on co-ordination and governance of security in Australia, particularly co-ordination of Federal/State responsibilities. Each fellowship is for the fixed period of three years. The fellowship positions are research-only with no teaching responsibilities.
Although the positions are fixed-term, successful fellows should subsequently be in a strong position to apply for permanent positions at Griffith University.
Fellows will be based at the Centre for Governance and Public Policy, Nathan campus and will be attached to the ARC Centre for Excellence in Policing and Security. Griffith University is located in Brisbane, Australia, a diverse city of 1.8 million with a sub-tropical climate.
The role:
Successful candidates will be expected both to publish with the leading journals and presses in the field, as well as conduct policy-relevant research broadly oriented around the themes of co-ordination and governance of security in relation to Australian State/federal responsibilities, protection of information, development of advisory systems, diffusion of information and issues of security.
The person:
Successful candidates must have:
1. A doctorate in Political Science or related field, or be very near completion.
2. Experience of or ability to work with State/Federal government agencies.
3. Ability to communicate relevant findings to policy-makers as well as to academic audiences.
4. A track record of or demonstrated potential to publish in leading book presses and journals in the field.
It is desirable though not essential that candidates have a program of research in co-ordination of federal/state relations in the area of security. Candidates may also have some policy experience.
This position is offered as a full time appointment for three years.
