Dear Colleagues: I am delighted to present to you the program for the 2001 Hong Kong convention. As you know, this is the first time that a dozen associations of international studies have collaborated in such a joint effort. The result is a vibrant and exciting program that promises a rewarding intellectual experience for all the participants. I wish to express my appreciation for the cooperation of colleagues in the International Studies Association and the various partner organizations. Members of the ISA headquarters staff have helped with the posting the preliminary program on the world-wide web and with the logistics of convention registration and travel grants. I especially want to express my thanks to Tom Volgy and Dana Larsen for their support and help. Joel Davis and Mike Escalante were instrumental in developing a very informative convention website. As well, James Tang and Richard Hu of the University of Hong Kong are especially deserving of our gratitude for their organizational arrangements as local hosts. I look forward to seeing you at the Hong Kong convention. Steve Chan Overall Program Coordinator University of Colorado, U.S.A.
