Cooperating Organizations

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are ISA Cooperating Organizations?

ISA maintains relationships with other international studies organizations all over the world. Cooperating Organizations are a network of international studies groups accredited by ISA to promote communication and help develop contacts among specialists and practitioners in order to facilitate scientific and cultural exchange. ISA seeks to provide channels of communication between academics and policy-makers to promote a successful link between the production of knowledge and its utilization.

What are the benefits of Cooperating Organization Status?

Cooperating organizations are invited to participate in ISA's activities, including the annual convention (where they are entitled to a quota of panels), and various international conferences and joint workshops. Other benefits of cooperating status include reciprocity in web site promotion, publicity and announcements, and shared Internet resources, including the private ISA listserv and web log.

What criteria must organizations meet to become ISA Cooperating Organizations?

Cooperating organizations should meet the following criteria:

  • such organizations should be scholarly, professional organizations.

  • their purpose should reflect purposes similar to ISA, as identified by the ISA's constitution.

  • cooperation should be likely to lead to meaningful, reciprocal, and ongoing activities.

What is the application process?

Organizations interested in becoming an ISA Cooperating Organization should contact ISA HQ with the following information:

  1. Please indicate that your association is in conformance with our three criteria for cooperative status.

  3. If you have a web page, please provide us with the address so that we may link to it from our list of Cooperating Organizations, as well as our list of Internet resources. Naturally, we expect a reciprocal link exchange.
