The Comparative Interdisciplinary Studies Section is pleased to contribute to the ongoing endeavor to reexamine and redefine the discourse of international relations as we prepare to enter the next century. This is an opportune moment to reflect on the challenges and opportunities that are presented by the changes occurring in the international system. The CISS conference on "The New Millennium: Challenges and Strategies for a Globalizing World" scheduled for August 9-10, 1999 in Paris, France provides a forum for a cross disciplinary exchange of perspectives on the changing world order. This is an exciting opportunity for the international studies community to join in a unique and stimulating dialogue between scholars, policy makers, and other interested individuals as we stand at the threshold of this historic transition.
