Welcome to the ISA Awards website. There are multiple awards announced or presented during the ISA Annual Convention. Several Regions and Sections present awards during their Business Meetings or Receptions; others are presented during the ISA General Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony.

The type of awards presented include undergraduate and graduate student paper awards, faculty paper awards, book awards, and distinguished scholar awards. Award certificates, plaques, and monetary awards are coordinated through ISA Headquarters.

The Awards Coordinator for 2007-2008 is Ishara Smith (telephone 520-626-0216 or email isa@u.arizona.edu). Each award committee chair is responsible for sending complete award information to ISA Headquarters prior to the Annual Convention.

ISA is pleased to announce the debut of the Deborah "Misty" Gerner Innovative Teaching in International Studies Award. This award will be granted annually to an instructor who has developed effective new approaches to teaching in the discipline. Examples could include innovative case studies, teaching software, and simulations. Preference will be given to materials that can be easily adapted by other instructors. Emphasis will be placed on pedagogy that engages students with issues of war, peace, identity, sovereignty, security, and sustainability - economic, environmental , or ethical - as they are evolving in the 21st Century. The $500 award will be presented at the ISA Awards Ceremony during the Annual Convention.
